Clive Mortimer started in the jewellery trade in 1973 after studying for seven years in Cardiff. Initially he carried out repair work for various jewellery shops in Newport and Cardiff. Due to public demand for such services, Clive decided make this the focus of his own business. Clive Mortimer Goldsmith moved to Newport arcade after eighteen years as it needed more space to accommodate growing custom and workload. Clive's son Adam Mortimer joined the business in 2002.
